A New Rider’s Dream: Apache RTX 300 Arrives

Imagine you’re on a long winding road at dawn, engine humming, wind brushing your face. Now picture a new motorcycle tailor-made for that moment. That’s what TVS is offering with the Apache RTX 300—their bold entry into the adventure-touring world, launched at ₹1.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

It’s not just about numbers. This is TVS saying: “We hear you, riders who crave more than city streets.” And that’s what makes this launch so compelling.

Specs & Power: What’s Under the Hood

At the heart of the Apache RTX 300 is the RT-XD4 299 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. It delivers about 35.5 hp at 9,000 rpm and 28.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.

What excites me personally is the bi-directional quickshifter, assist & slipper clutch, and a six-speed gearbox—gear changes without jerks, ideal for both highway cruising and twisties.

The bike rides on a steel trellis frame with an aluminium swingarm, suspended by a 41 mm USD fork (front) and monoshock (rear).

It rolls on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combo with dual-purpose tyres, making it capable on light off-road terrain without losing poise on tarmac.

The weight sits at ~180 kg (kerb), seat height is 835 mm, and ground clearance is ~200 mm.

Fuel tank holds 12.5 litres.

Features That Feel Modern & Rider-Friendly

TVS hasn’t held back on features. The Apache RTX 300 gets:

  • A 5-inch TFT display with map mirroring, calls/SMS alerts, and ride data.
  • Four ride modes: Urban, Rain, Tour, Rally — adjusting ABS, throttle response, and traction control.
  • Dual-channel ABS with mode switching.
  • Traction control (selectable modes).
  • Cruise control which is a blessing on long highway stretches.
  • TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring, in top variant or BTO)
  • Adjustable suspension in the BTO (Built-To-Order) edition.
  • Class D LED headlamps, DRLs, beak-style front for that adventure look.

From my view, these features make the bike feel like it’s built for both city rides and long rides with purpose. It’s a balanced package.

Price, Variants & Competition

TVS offers the RTX 300 in three variants:

  • Base: ₹1.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom)
  • Top: ₹2.14 lakh — adds LED headlamps (Class D), TFT cluster, quickshifter etc.
  • BTO (Built-To-Order): ₹2.29 lakh — includes adjustable suspension, TPMS.

These are intro prices — might jump later.

Key rivals include KTM 250 Adventure, Yezdi Adventure, Suzuki V-Strom SX, Royal Enfield Himalayan (and Scram).

In head-to-head vs KTM 250 Adventure: According to NDTV, RTX offers more power (35.5 hp vs ~30.5 hp) and extra tech, while KTM brings strong off-road DNA.

At ₹1.99 lakh, the base RTX undercuts the KTM 250 Adventure’s ex-showroom price (~₹2.40 lakh) and stays competitive with V-Strom SX and Yezdi.

Real-World Feel & Insight

If I were to ride this bike, I’d expect it to shine on highways and twisty roads with enthusiasm. The quickshifter and smooth torque would make overtakes fun. The upright posture, decent ground clearance, and rider assists give confidence when venturing on gravel or rough patches.

That said, the 835 mm seat height might be uneasy for shorter riders — something to test in person. Also, while features are rich, real-world reliability and service support will be the deciding factor.

In my circle of rider friends, there’s a buzz: this could be the “do-it-all” bike many were waiting for — a step above sporty road bikes, without the full weight of heavy adventure motorcycles.

Conclusion:

TVS Apache RTX 300 is not perfect, but it’s deeply ambitious. For ₹1.99 lakh, you get a feature-rich adventure tourer with modern tech, sharp styling, and capable performance. Sure, seat height and long-term durability remain to be proven. But for someone like me who wants one bike for city, highway, and weekend escapes — this hits in a sweet spot.

I’m excited to see how it performs once deliveries begin (from Nov 15, 2025). And you? If I were in the market, I’d definitely be test-riding one — heart says yes, wallet says weigh the BTO extras.

Ride safe, and may your next journey begin with the right machine.
