BMW first showcased the concept model of the F 450 GS at the EICMA 2024 event in Italy. After that, this bike was also seen in New Delhi during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. Since then, this bike has been spotted several times on the roads of India during test rides. And now when the patent images of its production model have surfaced online, it seems that this bike can be officially launched in India in the next 2-3 months.
Under the partnership between TVS and BMW, TVS is also going to launch some of its new bikes in the future using this F 450 GS platform, including Norton motorcycles.
What’s new in the production model that will make bikers want to try it
If you have seen the concept model of the F 450 GS, then the production model will look quite similar to it. Design elements like radiator shrouds, front beak, sturdy fuel tank, and rear section have been taken directly from the concept model. But one noticeable change is that the exposed subframe of the concept model is no longer seen in the production model. Its overall design is inspired by the BMW R 1300 GS, which was launched in India in January 2025.
The bike’s handlebar is set quite high, which gives the rider a relaxed posture. Split seat, mid-mounted foot pegs, and adjustable controls are also provided. All these features show that the F 450 GS is an Adventure Touring (ADV) motorcycle, designed for long rides, not pure off-road.
Advanced Features Every Biker Needs
The BMW F 450 GS has an all-LED lighting setup, which includes headlamp, turn indicators and tail-lamp cluster. Along with this, you also get a large colored TFT instrument console that supports Bluetooth connectivity. The bike also gets a rotary dial through which you can operate the menu and instrument cluster functions.
There is no compromise in the bike in terms of safety either. It gets advanced safety features like switchable dual-channel ABS, traction control, and multiple ride modes. With such features, whether you are on the highway or on hilly roads – the ride will always be safe and comfortable.
Frame, Wheels and Brakes – Strong and Reliable Setup
The BMW F 450 GS is based on a trellis frame with a bolt-on subframe. There are USD forks at the front and a monoshock absorber at the rear, which makes the ride smooth on every terrain. This bike has 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels which come with tubeless tyres. Front and rear – both wheels have disc brakes which will give you full confidence in braking.
This bike is now going to be BMW’s entry-level ADV motorcycle in India, which will replace the now discontinued G 310 GS.
Engine and Performance – Combo of Pure Power and Smooth Ride
The BMW F 450 GS is powered by a 450cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder petrol engine that produces 48 bhp of power and 45 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. The kerb weight of the Concept version was 175 kg, but the production version could be a little heavier due to some additional components.
The F 450 GS will compete directly with bikes like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Honda NX500, and CF Moto 450 MT. But due to its German engineering and premium build quality, this bike is going to create a different identity in the market.
From Concept to Production – What Changes in Design
When BMW showcased the concept model of the F 450 GS, the rally seat and cross-spoke wheels were the main highlights of its look. But these changes have been made in the production model – now you will get traditional touring-friendly seat and lightweight alloy wheels. The windshield is also now regular in size and the body design has been made more flared and aerodynamic.
The bike’s exhaust is also quite neatly packaged and looks more refined than the old G 310 GS. This time one extra feature can also be found – bi-directional quick shifter and semi-automatic gearbox option – which can be a game-changer in this segment.
India Launch and Expected Price
Now the most important question is – when will the BMW F 450 GS be launched? According to sources, BMW is planning to launch this bike in India by early 2026. And its expected price is ₹4.5 lakh It could be priced around Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom India). At this price point, the bike will emerge as a strong competitor in the premium ADV segment.
