Chibi-Robo! Is The Next Classic Game Coming to Nintendo Switch Online’s GameCube Library
Gaming lovers have great news—Chibi-Robo!, a super cute and unique GameCube classic, is now officially coming to Nintendo Switch Online’s GameCube library for Nintendo Switch 2. And the most exciting thing is that the wait won’t be too long now, as this game is releasing on 21 August 2025. This will be only the second GameCube title to be added to the library after the Switch 2 launch, the first being Super Mario Strikers (or Mario Smash Football in Europe).
Nintendo had already hinted about this game in the summary of the eShop, but now the official date has doubled the excitement of the fans. Chibi-Robo! has its own unique charm, which attracts new players along with nostalgia.
Growing popularity of Nintendo Switch Online and GameCube library
Nintendo Switch Online is a subscription-based service that gives gamers a treasure box-like library along with multiplayer fun. It includes 40 years of classic titles—NES, SNES, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, and now the newly added GameCube collection. For those who want to try the service, a free 7-day trial is also available.
The GameCube library is still in its infancy, but it already includes some legendary titles like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Soulcalibur 2, and of course Super Mario Strikers. Expected additions in the coming time are Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, and more fan-favorite games. Nintendo has raised the nostalgia level even higher by launching a replica GameCube controller that brings back memories of the old gaming days.
The Magic of Chibi-Robo! and the Gaming Community’s Reaction

Chibi-Robo! impressed gaming critics when it was released in 2006. IGN gave it an Editor’s Choice award and a strong score of 8.2/10. The review also said that people may think this game is just “too weird” or “too cute” after watching it, but those who play it realize that it is a fun, rewarding, and emotional puzzle-platformer.
The concept of Chibi-Robo! is different—a small robot that solves a family’s problems, steals a house, and faces interesting puzzles. Its cute yet meaningful storytelling touches the hearts of players.
The truth about the price increase of physical games
When Nintendo announced that Chibi-Robo! Now coming to the Switch 2’s Nintendo Classics service, the collectors community has seen mixed reactions. The game is a 2005 cult classic that sells for between $150 and $250 on eBay. Normally it would seem that when a game becomes accessible in digital form, the price of its physical copy would drop. But the history of Nintendo Switch Online tells a different story.
According to research, 61% of games have actually increased in value since they were added to NSO’s Nintendo Classics library. This means that nostalgia and demand are causing people to value physical copies more, not less.
Game Price Trends: GBA, N64, and GameCube
Since 2024, 23 games have been added to the Nintendo Classics library (GBA, N64, and GameCube). When price data was checked through eBay’s internal research tool, 14 games saw a price increase since release.
Among GBA titles, F-Zero: GP Legend saw the biggest price jump—with a 58% increase. Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones also saw an 11% increase, while the Golden Sun series saw a mild jump of 3-4%. Wario Land 4 and a few other GBA games saw a price decrease, but those were the exceptions.
Among Nintendo 64 games, 10 titles were released, of which 7 saw a price increase. Niche titles like Shadow Man and Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls saw a rise of 36% and 30%, respectively. Only Turok 2, Perfect Dark, and Blast Corps saw a drop in price.
The analysis of GameCube games was smaller, as the library launched in June 2025. But the early pattern was clear—Soulcalibur 2, Zelda: Wind Waker, and Mario Strikers saw a rise in price, while F-Zero GX saw a slight drop.
Chibi-Robo!’s Future and Gaming Nostalgia

For those looking to buy a physical copy of Chibi-Robo! on the cheap, this may be bad news. History shows that when a beloved classic comes to the NSO library, the price of its physical copy tends to rise rather than fall. The reason for this is simple—the powerful pull of nostalgia. When people revisit games from their childhood, they make up their mind to put them on their shelf.
Chibi-Robo!’s launch on Switch 2 is not just a game release but an emotional moment for everyone who grew up during the GameCube era. Nintendo has proven once again that their library expansion strategy is about more than just providing gaming content but also about creating emotional connections.
