Get first access to Tatkal Ticket Booking – How to link Aadhaar to IRCTC
Do you also face system crash, network busy, or instant sell-out every time you book Tatkal tickets? Then there is an important update for you – now only those people will be able to book Tatkal tickets on IRCTC whose Aadhaar card is linked to their IRCTC account. Indian Railways has taken a big step through this new rule so that the Tatkal booking process can be more transparent and fair.
Priority will be given in Tatkal Ticket Booking through Aadhaar Linked IRCTC Account
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave information about this new system in the Monsoon Session of Parliament. He clearly said that Tatkal ticket booking will now be available only to those users who are authenticated with Aadhaar, and this process will be possible only through IRCTC’s official website or mobile app. Knowing this, it will be a relief for those crores of passengers who were deprived of tickets every time due to fake agents and touts despite genuine booking.
30 minutes ban on Tatkal Booking Agents – IRCTC Aadhaar Authentication will ensure security

The minister told that no agent can book a ticket in the first 30 minutes of Tatkal’s Advance Reservation Period (ARP). Meaning this time will now be only for genuine passengers. For the first time, you will feel that the system has really been made for the common man.
A new system has also been introduced for offline booking – if you are buying a ticket from a Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter or an IRCTC authorized agent, an OTP will be sent to your mobile number. The ticket will be confirmed only after sharing the OTP. This step will become a powerful tool against fake accounts and black marketing.
Why is it necessary to link Aadhaar in IRCTC Tatkal Ticket Booking?
These new rules are also beneficial for those people who travel daily – be it for work or to meet family. After linking IRCTC account with Aadhaar, you get priority access in Tatkal booking which no one else will have.
Railway Minister declared Aadhaar Verification mandatory
There was a lot of discussion on this issue in Parliament as well. 11 Rajya Sabha MPs directly asked the Minister whether Aadhaar authentication will be mandatory and whether such users will get preference. The Minister clarified that Tatkal e-ticket is only for those people whose IRCTC profile is verified with Aadhaar. Its only purpose is to keep agents and touts away from the system and give genuine passengers their rights.
Tatkal Aadhaar Verification System started from 15 July
The implementation of this new rule has started from 15 July. OTP-based verification will be used not only online but also in offline booking. This step is part of the 8-year-old campaign of Indian Railways to prevent misuse of unauthorized software.
